What’s New in QuickBooks 2022

QuickBooks Hub 2022

Happy New Year 2022! A little early, you might say… but exactly on time in the QuickBooks sense:

QuickBooks Desktop 2022 is now widely available!

Once again, we are proud of our team for being an integral part in the development of new features in this new release. Mendelson Consulting has been part of the QuickBooks Enterprise Product Council for more years than any other consulting team. And now we are also part of the QuickBooks Desktop Plus Product Council and the QuickBooks Online Advanced Influencers Group – we are the only “common denominator” in the product advisory councils across all QuickBooks platforms and offerings!

QuickBooks 2022 Boasts Modernized Foundation

While the focus for Intuit is online subscription service, the fact remains that the desktop products and the ecosystem around them continues to grow. Over the past few years, the company has invested in artificial intelligence and platform solutions that extend and add value to the desktop and online products. Some of these investments are becoming clearer with the launch of QuickBooks Desktop 2022 editions.

64-bit QuickBooks

QuickBooks now has a 64-bit foundation and the full capability of 64-bit processors can be used. This typically means faster application and data load times, faster report generation and an ability to handle larger data sets more efficiently.

Beware of QuickBooks 2022 until you verify that your computers are all 64-bit machines, because QuickBooks 2022 is not compatible with 32-bit systems. If you are working with a hosting platform, you will need to make sure your host has modern infrastructure and up-to-date operating systems. [1]

E-commerce for QuickBooks with Webgility

Need to track your revenue from different online selling platforms and sync the data directly with QuickBooks? There are a lot of e-commerce integrations for QuickBooks desktop, but Webgility wins when it comes to working with QuickBooks. There is now a bundle that makes it easier to get the Webgility e-commerce integration for QuickBooks. Features include: integration with stores like Shopify, WooCommerce, Big Commerce and Magento; integration with online marketplaces like eBay, Amazon and Walmart.com; and flexibility to work with your preferred shipping provider with integrations to UPS, FedEx, ShipStation and Stamps.com.

Webgility uses a database separate from QuickBooks to keep track of orders, so you will want to ensure your system is able to handle the extra load. If you are on a hosting platform (other than NOOBEH), be ready to pay additional fees to support running Webgility. [2]

Accounts Payable approval process

[Available for QuickBooks Enterprise only] Improve your accounts payable process by creating a structured approval process so that only the right vendor bills get paid. Accounts payable workflows can help businesses manage cash flow and improve transparency. The process includes: the ability to define a customizable approval process for vendor bills; a dashboard that organizes bills requiring specific approval before being paid; and email notifications to selected approvers and the accounts payable clerk so they know the status of vendor bills.

Pay and schedule bills faster with Melio payments

With a new integrated feature from Melio payments, businesses can now schedule and pay bills using ACH bank transfer, credit card or debit card from within QuickBooks. Vendors can receive their payments either as ACH or paper checks – and the vendor does not have to have a Melio account.

Document mobile uploads and vendor bill entry automation

Vendor bills can now be uploaded by snapping a picture in the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app (available for Apple iOS and Android) or vendors can email their invoices directly to your customized QuickBooks email. In both cases, images are then processed with artificial intelligence and machine learning to create a vendor bill transaction for your review. And digital copies of vendor bills are stored where the QuickBooks Desktop file is stored on your computer.

This new feature is especially useful for businesses operating on a hosted platform which typically does not support scanning from a local device. [3]

Choose from multiple customer and vendor contacts

When emailing invoices to customers or purchase orders to vendors, for example, you will now be able to select from a drop-down selection of emails associated with a customer or a vendor.

URL link to send to customers for pre-payments

When you need to receive a deposit or pre-payment from a customer, you can now send a URL link for the customer to make that pre-payment, without necessarily needing to make an invoice. [4]

Instant deposit

With a QuickBooks Payments account, merchant payments can now be instantly deposited into your business bank account; additional fees apply. [4]

Changes to software purchasing options

Staring with version 2022, QuickBooks Desktop is available only as a subscription purchase. QuickBooks Enterprise has been a subscription offering for several years. Subscription benefits include access to the latest version, with the most up-to-date features, security patches, and support for Windows operating system changes; unlimited customer support and data recovery at no additional charge.

QuickBooks desktop software continues to be the cornerstone of small and midsized business accounting. From very small business to the growing enterprise, QuickBooks delivers the functionality that every company needs to manage their inflows and outflows, customers and vendors, and all banking activities. Starting with the early 1999 version to the current 2021 release, Intuit has continued to add capability and enhance features and usability to keep QuickBooks as the most popular finance and operations product on the market.

Mendelson Consulting was the first and is the oldest Intuit QuickBooks software partner. We have the experience to help your business get the most out of your investments in software, systems, and training.
